Newsletter #69-2023 2 ECF24 Chairman Prof. Zeljko Bozic Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, University of Zgreb Ivana Lucica 5, 10000 Zagreb, Croatia E‐mail: zeljko.bozic@fsb.hr ECF25 Chairman Prof. Stavros Kourkoulis Department of Mechanics, National Technical University of Athens Athens, Greece E‐mail: stakkour@central.ntua.gr EDITORIAL BY THE ESIS PRESIDENT Dear friends, The first half of 2023 is almost over. ESIS activities were remarkable, including a number of supported conferences and events, as you can see in this issue of the Newsletter. The ExCo is completed by now, since we found an excellent replacement for Valery to take over Newsletters and Publication. I am very pleased to announce that Sabrina Vantadori is a new ExCo member. This issue of the Newsletter is her first one. Welcome on board, Sabrina! In the meantime, the ExCo has held a regular meeting in Zagreb to check all details necessary for ECF24 that will take place in August 2024. Besides other common topics, the ExCo accepted the request to form a new TC on Tribo-Mechanical Fracture. It will be TC22. All details are available in our website. In 2023, Procedia Structural Integrity released 4 new issues up to now (Vols 42-45), including one containing papers from the ECF23, edited by Pedro Moreira and Luis Reis (LINK). Four Special Issues in Elsevier affiliated Journals are now under preparation. Let me remind you that the ESIS Publishing House (ESIS - PH), recently established, enables ESIS members to publish monographies and scholarly editions, edited volumes and special technical publications. All the volumes are published as "Open Access" volumes, being completely free of charge both for authors and for readers. We are grateful to Francesco for this very important ESIS activity, as well as for the ESIS YouTube channel, providing many video recordings, including some recent ESIS supported events, such as IGF27 in Rome and IRAS 2023 in Belgrade (LINK). I wish also to remind you that being an ESIS member has many advantages. First of all, you belong to a great researcher community, focused on the structural integrity issues published in many journals and publication media, such as: - Elsevier journals affiliated with ESIS: Engineering Failure Analysis, Engineering Fracture Mechanics, International Journal of Fatigue and Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics. We encourage all members to publish articles in these journals. - Procedia Structural Integrity published by Elsevier, but directly coordinated by ESIS. It was born in 2016 and 45 issues have been published up to now. The journal is indexed in Scopus and Google Scholar. Finally, let me recommend to our younger members the 8th ESIS International Summer School on Energy Methods in Fracture and Fatigue that will be held in Messina, Italy, and online, from 10-12 July 2023.
